Many say we are dragons because we wish to be significant in life; we want something more, to be more important and known. We feel as if we have something that drives us further than others. I do not doubt that is true, I believe we are like that in one way or another. Those who get older and lose interest, grow out of it and find real life a higher priority to tend to than their draconity. Those who stick with it, and have been in a dragon community for quite a while will continue to look for something more, even amongst the dragonkin. I am not sure if this would be true for everyone, and we all have significance in our own way, although it is just that feeling to desire more. Is this what drives most of us into awakening? If this is true, could there be a chance of a possible second awakening after having already awakened?

Not sure if this thread is alright for me or not, being a gryphon and all, but here goes. How do you tell a real life friend that you're otherkin?

This thread is alright for you, as well as anyone else who may not necessarily be a dragon. Sometimes it is best not to tell anyone in real life about being otherkin at all, unless you truely can trust him or her with such a personal topic. I have never told a real life human friend, nor do I plan on doing so.

I know I've only just joined this place, but I've been aware and at terms with my dragon self for a long, long time, so I hope it's okay for me to offer help as well.

I've been my dragon self for many many years now, as I just said, and I've never told anyone I know in real life about it. I mean, my family's very aware of my dragon affinity (seriously, stocking your room completely full of dragon statues, figurines, toys, games, books, DVDs and posters will do that), but they don't know just how deep it really goes. And still, I've never had a problem in real life with it, mainly because I have such a good amount of friends to chat about my dragon life with online. I've never had problems with keeping my two halves where they belong, and I suggest that if you ever need help, ventilation, or anything concerning griffin life, you keep that strictly between the people you know won't mock you and/or think there's something wrong with you for it (preferably, me ^.=.^). By keeping both halves of yourself in their own place, you should rarely come across any troubles.

That is very true.

When it comes to draconity, I always feel more comfortable talking about my dragon self than any other topic. I believe I think like a dragon too; like instincts kick in constantly.

I've only been awakened for about 7 months (since September). Ever since, i've had dragons on the mind. I've been talking about it and it has made my life a whole lot happier!!
